As I mentioned the other we had a pretty packed weekend; on Saturday morning we went for a Valentine's Day brunch at a furniture shop in Vila Madalena (Valentine's Day is today in Brazil, by the way), ostensibly so the stars of the São Paulo Instagram scene could take pictures of each other, although I got some rather nice carrot cake out of it.
Then it was on to band practice - with talk of another gig before I go off gallivanting around Europe - and on to a new venue that has opened up down the road called Degrau ("stairs") which was basically a big staircase with a bar attached, but was nice enough and does lots of fancy drinks. On Sunday we went to the in-laws and Gaby made us all lunch, followed by a trip to the cinema to see the new(-ish) Avengers film, which was a fitting culmination of the hours and hours of Marvel films which Gaby and I have been watching over the past few weeks.
Otherwise we're looking forward to the World Cup - I was going to write a preview from a Brazilian perspective but Nike and Eurosport have beaten me to it, with an excellent look back at the traumatic events of 8th July 2014. I will say it's odd being in a country which is among the favourites to win, although as an England fan I've long since learned to not worry about the actual results and just enjoy the relentless churn of football while it lasts.
And finally, I've made another mixtape - and if you thought I was obsessive, this guy has started a project with 24 hour-long compilations of music from the year of his birth, which could be good if you really miss 1971...
