30.05.23 - Passar pano

Halloooo,

Hope all well!

It's gone rather chilly and damp over here, so we've been holed up indoors finishing ebooks etc, although we did get out to Vila Madalena for lunch on Sunday, and had the in-laws over prior to that.

I've made another compilation, should you be that way inclined, and my phrase of the day is "passar pano" - basically if you go to bat for someone who's done something wrong, or turn a blind eye to their obvious shortcomings, then you're "passing the cloth" for them. Or so I'm told.

That's all for this week - have a good one, and speak soon!

23.05.23 - Foguete não tem ré

Hallooooo,

Hope all well!

This week we've mainly been putting the new car through its paces, taking it out to the cinema on Wednesday (and immediately getting fined by the rotating traffic system in place in SP, which we forgot about) and out and about over the weekend, including a baby shower for one of Gabi's friends.

Otherwise I've made two new mixtapes and another, autumn-themed one for Instagram (it being autumn here now...); and my saying of the day means "rockets don't go in reverse!", and is used as a motivational phrase for gym rats and tech startups, among other folks.

And that's about it for now. Speak soon!

16.05.23 - Trocar os pés pelas mãos

Hallooooo,

Good to hear from you over the weekend, which was mostly spent threading the needle of family sensitivities on Mother's Day with relative success, and a slap-up meal. We've also finally got our hands on our new car after weeks of stalling (hopefully not literal stalling), which is a relief.

I've gone done made another mixtape, and my phrase of the day - "trocar os pés pelas mãos", or "to switch feet for hands" - means to bungle or generally drop the ball on something, in clumsy fashion.

And that's all she wrote - speak soon!

09.05.23 - Botar o burro na sombra

Halloooo,

Hope all well!

Since we last spoke I've been into the office and off to the football (with a welcome return to the bar we go to afterwards, for the first time in a few weeks), and housed Gaby's relatives from Minas Gerais over the weekend along with her parents and grandma, which was pretty full-on and involved a lot of shuttling about between restaurants, but was otherwise rather fun.

I've also made another compilation, and my phrase of the day ("to put the donkey in the shade") is a euphemism for "making it" in life and no longer having any substantial chores to worry about. What better way to mark World Donkey Day 2023?

That's about it for now, speak soon!

02.05.23 - Cão que foi mordida por cobra tem medo de linguiça

Halloooo,

Hope all well! And thanks again for my birthday Banana Boat song.

I had a fun birthday weekend starting with an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet in the São Paulo Governor's old house in the Horto Florestal, then off to Indaiatuba overnight for a pizza and a stroll through the park, and a relaxing Labour Day spent flopping about the house. We also made some headway on our summer travel plans, and I finished the first draft of my ebook.

In other news I've made another compilation, and my phrase of the day means "a dog who's been bitten by a snake is afraid of salami" - "once bitten (by a snake), twice shy (of sausages)", that kind of thing.

That's all for now - speak soon!
