25.04.23 - Saco sem fundo

Halloooo,

Hope all well and the move to France goes well - can't wait to see you there soon! We are still between cars but managed to get out to the Horto Florestal on Saturday (thrilled to report that the capybaras are back) and for a nice lunch afterwards.

We were also given a couple of discounted tickets to see "Anastasia - the Musical" with Giovanna and Nelson in the centre of town, which was pretty cool with lots of revolving scenery and a see-through prop train, and Fernanda & Tuio came round to announce they're expecting for a second time, so it's been all go here.

In other news I've made not one but two compilations to bring us up to a round 400, and my phrase of the day is "saco sem fundo" - a "bottomless bag", or someone who can eat constantly without suffering any ill effects. I believe the English equivalent is "hollow legs".

That's all for now, speak to you soon!

18.04.23 - Passar o rodo

Halloooo,

Hope all well and Grandpa's hospital sojourn doesn't drag on too long. We're all thinking about you over here!

We had the in-laws over at the weekend and they helped us sell our long-suffering Hyundai and buy a new Citroen, which we can expect some time next week, while also stopping to a friend's birthday-party-slash-all-you-can-eat feijoada buffet in Cotia. So we're currently car-less and carrying our shopping over town by hand like the Amish.

I've made a new compilation, and my phrase of the day translates as "to pass the window-cleaner", and is applied disparagingly to anyone who hooks up with multiple people at once, usually during Carnaval. So there's that.

Lots of love, and speak soon!

11.04.23 - Ligado no 220

Halloooo,

Hope all well. We've had a very laid-back long Easter weekend spent napping, watching documentaries about missing planes, and eating delicious food in the company of a Samoyed dog, as Jesus would have wanted.

I also have a new compilation out, and my phrase of the day is "plugged into the 220 [outlet]", which is used to describe hyperactive people and refers to Brazil's baffling two-plug system, where one (110V) works normally and the other (220V) generates double the intensity and instantly fries most electronics if you accidentally plug them in. So far no one has been able to explain to me the benefits of this set-up...

And that's about it for now - speak soon!

04.04.23 - Nunca mexe num barril de bosta

Halloooo,

Hope all well, and lovely to see the birthday pics from Erli!  This weekend Gaby went to Ilhabela with Adny and Zila for a quick getaway before the end of summer, while I stayed home and caught up on work and sleep.

I also went to a St. Patrick's-themed party at Sherlock, and saw John Wick 4, which is incredible and culminates in a battle royale near my busking spot in Montmartre.  Now we're back to work, while also planning multiple trips including one to the canyons of Rio Grande do Sul for my birthday.

In other news I've made another compilation, plus a rain-themed compilation for Instagram, and my phrase of the week means "never mess with a barrel of sh*t", which is good advice in any language.

Speak soon!
