26.11.24 - Com a pulga atrás da orelha

Hallooooo,

Hope all well. We're winding down Gabi's birthday week, which involved mounds of cake, songs, plenty of nice meals out, and a weekend with the in-laws putting up the Christmas tree and a separate home office space for yours truly.

We also went to a neon painting session on Thursday, which was pretty cool even though everyone around us was dauntingly good at it for some reason. I played it safe and recreated the "Dark Side of the Moon" album cover, which involved minimal brushstrokes.

In other news I've made another compilation for your listening pleasure, and my phrase of the week means to "have a flea behind one's ear", which means to have a growing suspicion of something/someone.

And I believe that just about covers it - speak soon!

19.11.24 - Sem pé nem cabeça

Hallooooo,

Hope all well. Not much to report this week as we slowly wind down to the year's end; we had a national holiday on Friday but it was cold and raining so we mainly just flopped about and saw some friends over the weekend... Today is Gaby's birthday so we're gonna have a nice lunch and go out to celebrate throughout the week, plans TBC...

In other news I've made another compilation, and my phrase of the week means "[x] has neither feet nor head", which means it's nonsensical and a non-starter, essentially.

And I believe that's about it for now - speak soon!

12.11.24 - Pra minhoca cego, macarronada é suruba

Hallooooo,

Hope all well.

A relatively normal week for all concerned for a change, and we went up to Indaiatuba for the weekend, where I was seconded by Diva for headrubs, etc the entire time. Now we enter the maelstrom of end of year plans which doesn't really let up until after Carnaval...

In other news, I've made another compilation, and my phrase of the week comes from a commenter on Instagram, so I'm not quite sure what it means, but the literal translation is "to a blind worm, a pan of pasta is an orgy". Use it as you see fit!

Think that's about it for now, speak soooon!

05.11.24 - Sair de fininho

Hallooooo,

Hope all well. It's been a busy week here, mostly spent getting Gabi's office into working condition with plenty of painting, plumbing and rewiring, wrangling of tradesmen and frantic trips to Leroy Merlin.

In between all that we got out on Wednesday to visit the rather splendid Sala São Paulo for some cut-price ballet, the Museum of the Portuguese Language (whose previous claim to fame was burning to the ground in 2015, but is looking good these days) and Luz station, famously modeled on St. Pancras.

On Thursday I rocked up to the Sherlock Halloween party as a man being abducted in a box, but arrived too late to make a dent in the voting and had to make do with some spooky cupcakes. And on Sunday we went to see the Smashing Pumpkins ("I love doing that!") who put on a good show despite some baffling setlist choices.

In other news, I've made another compilation, and my phrase of the week means "to sneak out without anyone noticing". Another way of putting it is "saída a francesa", which confusingly translates to "Irish exit" in English.

And that's about it for now - speak soon!
